WWE Mae Young Classic Results - September 5, 2018
We are at Full Sail University and your announcers are Beth Phoenix, Michael Cole, and Renee Young.

We begin with a look back at highlights from the first Mae Young Classic which was won by Kairi Sane.

What will happen to the 32 women who are fighting for the right to be crowned the winner of the Mae Young Classic with the finals at Evolution on October 28th.

The first match is Tegan Nox versus Zatara.

Zatara says she is the first Chilean to make it to the WWE. She says you will not forget her after this tournament.

Tegan Nox says she likes to hit people hard as well as fly through the air. She says Molly Holly is her inspriation. She mentions that she tore her ACL before the first Mae Young Classic. She says the injury has made her stronger. It is time for her to shine.

Tegan Nox vs. Zatara in a First Round Match

They lock up and Nox with a wrist lock. Zatara with a punch and wrist lock. Nox with a wrist lock of her own. Zatara with a wrist lock and Nox goes for a reversal but Zatara kicks Nox to the mat. Nox with a reversal and hammer lock. Zatara with a pie face and kick to the midsection. Zatara sends Nox into the turnbuckles. Nox floats over and takes Zatara down with arm drags. Nox with a head scissors take down and drop kick to send Zatara to the floor.

Nox teases a dive to the floor but spins through the ropes. Zatara returns to the ring and she offers her hand to Nox. Zatara kicks her because it was a trap. Zatara with a take down and drop kick to the temple. Zatara with a figure four curb stomp. Zatara stomps on the hand and then hits a drop kick for a near fall. Zatara wraps the surgically repaired knee in the ropes and the referee warns Zatara. Zatara with a drop kick to the knee. Zatara with an Indian Death Lock but Nox with punches and she gets to the ropes to force a break.

Zatara with a back heel kick but Nox with a forearm and European uppercut. Nox with a running forearm and a second one. Nox with a running European uppercut into the corner. Nox with a round kick from the apron and she goes up top. Nox with a cross body for a near fall. Nox continues to get feeling back into her knee and she runs into a boot from Zatara. Zatara with a missile drop kick and running double knee strike.

Zatara gets a near fall. Zatara misses a knee to the head and Nox with a Shining Wizard for the three count.

Winner: Tegan Nox (advances to face winner of Isla Dawn vs. Nicole Matthews)

We see Ember Moon in the crowd and so is Alexa Bliss.

The next match is Rhea Ripley versus MJ Jenkins.

Rhea Ripley says she made a fool of herself last year. This year, she is going to prove to everybody out there what Rhea Ripley is all about. She says this is the darker version of Rhea. This is the better version of Rhea. She is going to rip every single competitor apart.

MJ Jenkins says it is an honor to participate in this tournament. She watched last year's tournament and she said to herself this is where she needs to be. She says MJ is going to blow everyone's mind.

Rhea Ripley vs. MJ Jenkins in a First Round Match

Ripley does not want to lock up with Jenkins. Ripley with a pie face and then she goes for a hip toss but Jenkins with an arm drag. Jenkins with an arm drag using the ropes. Ripley sends Jenkins to the apron and Jenkins with a forearm. Jenkins goes for a springboard move but Ripley with a drop kick that sends Jenkins to the floor. Ripley gets a near fall. Ripley gets a near fall. Ripley with forearms to the head. Jenkins with forearms but Ripley with a forearm to the back. Ripley with a clothesline for a near fall. Ripley with a forearm to the back to maintain control of the match.

Ripley with a kick to the back. Ripley sends Jenkins into the turnbuckles and kicks Jenkins while the referee warns Rhea. Ripley with a delayed vertical suplex and she gets a near fall. Ripley with an abdominal stretch with a claw and elbow into the ribs. Jenkins with a hip toss to escape the hold. Ripley sends Jenkins face first into the mat and gets a near fall. Ripley with a near fall. Ripley with another near fall. Ripley argues with the referee. Ripley pie faces Jenkins as she taunts her. Jenkins gets a second wind and she connects with an uppercut and back fist. Jenkins with a clothesline and back elbow.


Jenkins with a flying shoulder tackle. Jenkins misses a charge into the corner but so does Ripley. Jenkins with a round kick from the apron and she hits a springboard drop kick for a near fall. Jenkins misses a round kick and Ripley with a sit out pump handle powerbomb for the three count.

Winner: Rhea Ripley (faces winner of Kacy Catanzaro vs. Reina Gonzalez)

The next match is Vanessa Kraven vs. Lacey Lane.

Vanessa says that you would think she is a monster, but she has a sweet playful side. You will feel the wrath of her if you get in her way. She says she is a bruiser and she loves hard hitting moves and chops. What better time or place to show the world than now.

Lacey Lane says she wants to prove that she can be as good as the men. She says her influences are Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley. She uses a Japanese style and she does not stop. She says she knows what to do to win. That is what makes her a deadly threat.

We see Lio Rush in the crowd.

Lacey Lane vs. Vanessa Kraven in a First Round Match

Lane avoids Kraven and kicks Kraven in the leg. Lane goes for a rollup but she cannot get Kraven down. Kraven tries to stomp Lane but Lane escapes. Lane with forearms and Kraven pushes her away. Lane with a round kick to the head and connects with forearms in the corner. Lane goes to the ropes and sends Kraven to the floor with an arm drag. Lane with a handspring kick and then she avoids Kraven on the apron and kicks Kraven. Lane with a cross body but Kraven catches Lane and hot shots her on the apron.

Kraven puts Lane against the ropes and she chops and kicks Lane. Kraven puts Lane in the corner and chokes Lane. Kraven with a cannonball for a near fall. Kraven chops Lane against the ropes. Kraven sets for a back breaker on the shoulder. Lane ues the ropes to escape. Lane blocks a choke slam and connects with a knee. Lane kicks Kraven in the knee and hits a round kick. Lane with a running European uppercut into the corner and follows with a running knee to the head.

Kraven pushes Lane to teh mat but Lane with a kick. Kraven with a spinning power slam for a near fall. Kraven runs into an elbow and Lane with another kick to Kraven. Kraven misses a cannonball. Lane with kicks and forearms. Lane with a crucifix bomb for the three count.

Winner: Lacey Lane (advances to face winner of Taynara Conti vs. Jessie Elaban)

We go to Natalya in the back and she is asked about being back at the Mae Young Classic. She says it is great to be around so many women who share the same passion as her. These women inspire her to be better. She is asked for her picks. Natalya says her picks are Mia Yim and Io Shirai.

The next match is Meiko Satomura vs. Killer Kelly.

Meiko Satomura says she got to wrestle in WCW 16 years ago when she was a rookie. She mentions that she lost that match. She started dreaming about coming back to the US and being a top wrestler. She says she is going to put her spirit into this tournament and she promises that this will bring a bigger revolution.

Killer Kelly says she is the first female Portuguese wrestler in WWE. This will give her exposure. She is very straight forward and she will take you down with the Dragon Sleeper and her kicks. She will do what it takes.

Funaki is in the crowd with Tye Dillinger.

Meiko Satomura vs. Killer Kelly in a First Round Match

Satomura with a kick to the leg and Kelly responds in kind. Satomura misses a round kick but Kelly is aware of what could happen. Satomura with a wrist lock take down. Kelly with a waist lock take down. They lock up and Satomura with a side head lock. Satomura with a take down and Kelly goes for a head scissors but Satomura pushes her away. Kelly applies the head scissors but Satomura with a bridge before escaping. Satomura with a forearm as she works on the legs. Satomura with a side head lock. Kelly with a head scissors and Satomura with an escape.

Kelly with a Dragon Sleeper but Satomura escapes. Kelly with a forearm and bicycle kick for a near fall. Kelly with a forearm to the back and then she sets for a surfboard but Satomura escapes. Kelly with a forearm and Irish whip but Satomura with an arm drag off the ropes into a single leg crab. Satomura with an STF. Kelly gets to the ropes to force a break. Satomura with a forearm to the back of the head. Kelly has a kick blocked and Satomura with a take down and kicks to the chest.

Satomura with a wrist lock and kicks to the chest. Satomura with a leg sweep and knee drop for a near fall. Satomura with a kick to the chest. Kelly blocks a kick and Kelly goes for a suplex and hits it. Kelly gets a near fall. Kelly misses the bicycle kick and Satomura with a kick and uppercut. Satomura with a cartwheel leg drop to the back. Satomura goes to the turnbuckles but Kelly with a forearm to stop her. Kelly goes for a German superplex but Satomura blocks it. Kelly with a dragon sleeper in the turnbuckles. Kelly with a kick to the back and then Kelly hits a hesitation drop kick.

Kelly with a fisherman's suplex for a near fall. Kelly with a forearm and she sets for a waist lock take down. Satomura with a Pele Kick and Satomura gets Kelly on her shoulders for a Death Valley Driver for the three count.

Winner: Meiko Satomura (advances to face winner of Ashley Rayne vs. Mercedes Martinez)
